Even the Fed mentions global growth concerns - BNZ
FXStreet (Łódź) - Stephen Toplis, Head of Research at BNZ points out that concerns over global growth have been rising and that even the US Fed has been highlighting them recently, which is unusual as the US economy is quite insular.
Key quotes
"Even the US Federal Reserve has mentioned global growth concerns – in its previous policy meeting, as well as via the numerous Fed members who have been on the tapes over the last week or two."
"It takes a lot for Americans to highlight global growth, in that the US economy is relatively closed (insular) by global standards."
"But then US officials must also be conscious of the ramifications for the US dollar."
"That is, further upwards – based on America’s comparative advantage but also via safe-haven bids in a world perhaps beginning to see that super-cheap money (printing) might not really solve all the world’s ills."
"The more the US dollar strengthens the lesser will be the Fed rate hike cycle, was the message."
