AUD/USD drops below 0.9000

FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - After 2 days of gains, the Australian dollar lost momentum and entered a corrective phase Tuesday, retreating from a 1-month high versus the dollar.

The AUD/USD found resistance at the 0.9085 area late NY session and came under pressure, having retraced completely yesterday's gains and fallen all the way back below the 0.9000 mark most recently. The AUD/USD is currently trading around 0.9000, recording a 0.6% loss on the day, with a low of 0.8992.

AUD/USD technical levels

In terms of technical levels, if the AUD/USD breaks decisively below 0.8990 next supports could be found at 0.8950 (10-day SMA) and 0.8900 (psychological level). On the other hand, resistances are seen at 0.9057 (Jan 14 high), 0.9085 (Jan 13 high) and 0.9100 (psychological level).
